Melissa Tebbenkamp, CETL, is highly qualified in the field of adult learning, data governance, cybersecurity and enterprise technology leadership. Melissa has earned a national reputation for her expertise and has been invited to speak on the subjects by several national organizations including the US Department of Education, Federal Trade Commission, Consortium for School Networking (CoSN), Future of Privacy Forum, and Project Unicorn. She has contributed to several nationally published whitepapers and articles. As a certified teacher in Missouri with a Master’s Degree in Education Technology, Melissa brings a unique skill set that combines the understanding of complex networks, educational philosophy and leadership. Not only was she one of the first 46 individuals in the nation to become a Certified Education Technology Leader (CETL), she led her district to becoming one of the first seven districts in the nation to earn the Trusted Learning Environment Seal.
Melissa gained valuable experience through her tenure as the Chief Information Officer for a Midwest school district for over sixteen years. Under her leadership, the technology department was frequently cited as a reference/model district for many technologies, practices and procedures. Her district maintained a balance of privacy and security while embracing technology innovation. Specifically, her team was among the first nationwide to move to large-scale server virtualization and was published internationally for the progressive approach to data center resource management. Her team has been recognized in several national industry publications for their approach to secure networks, management of IoT and prioritization of data security and privacy.
Melissa served on the CoSN national board from 2014-2021, serving on several working groups and committees with an emphasis on data privacy, cybersecurity, interoperability and policy/advocacy.
