Director of Implementation

Karla Kiper is the Director of Implementation with the Verizon Innovative Learning Schools (VILS) initiative with Digital Promise. She previously served the East Baton Rouge Parish School system for more than 20 years in various roles, including Director of Technology Integration, District Technology Facilitator, and Classroom Teacher. During that time, she developed, managed, and supported projects designed to close equity gaps in student and staff access to technology, digital tools and professional learning. She is experienced in building partnerships through multiple district-wide mobile learning initiatives, including a 1:1 Chromebook initiative impacting 40,000 students and more than 3,000 teachers. Karla is a CoSN Certified Educational Technology Leader (CETL) and was a certified elementary classroom teacher for 13 years and a campus technology facilitator for many years. Focus areas include 1:1 mobile device equity initiatives and online professional development. Specialties include: G-Suite, Microsoft Office, iPads iOS, eLearning design and development, mobile app development, technology grant writing, strategic technology planning, and flipped and blended learning implementation. Karla’s work as an Educational Technology Leader has been featured as an EdScoop Next Generation School Technology Leader Nominee in Spring 2018, and in the Summer 2018 edition of EdTech Focus on K-12 Magazine. Karla has been a featured educational technology speaker at many conferences including the Fall 2018 Route To Market (RTM) CIO Congress, the Fall 2019 ISTE Creative Constructor Lab in New Orleans, LA, the Fall 2019 Learning Counsel Digital Transition Discussion in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, and the Summer 2019 Discovery Education Network Summer Institute (DENSI), in Ogden, Utah.
